    With nearly 400 shows and tens of thousands of road miles now behind them, Railroad Earth has become a staple on the national touring and festival scene, and built a huge following of loyal fans that document and trade every note they play, and often join them on the road for multiple nights. These fans call themselves “Hobos,” and the band considers them to be the fuel that keeps this engine chugging along. Railroad Earth’s next album is planned for release in Spring 2004. Till then the band will continue to bring their music to the stage from East to West. So keep an ear to the ground and listen for Railroad Earth, because they'll be rolling through your town very soon.

    After fronting a couple bands in the mid 90s in California and spending the next several years developing his musical and songwriting talents in Japan and Minneapolis, Adam Lancaster landed in Denver in 2000 and founded the band. The band took on many formations and seemingly endless lineup changes for about a year until the perfect complimentary additions of Gregg Rosenthal (drums), Josh Eckhoff (guitar), and Matt Novack (bass, vocals) created a sound and style beyond what Adam could have hoped for. This new talented group immediately began writing songs and reworking old songs to create music and a performance that attracts and engages every listening audience. The personal and musical bond between each member deepened quickly and the dedication from everyone to develop the band to its fullest possibilities is evident.

At times it sounds like a DJ scratch kit, at others it sounds like something from outer space. Sometimes it sounds like a regular harmonica. Rightmire’s epic lung capacity allows him to jam out on the mouth harp with incredible longevity. Long after most people would have blacked out and fallen over, Rightmire keeps the notes flowing, rocking around like a man possessed. I felt lightheaded just watching.

But when the band opened up with Trans Am, an original track off the band’s latest, Moon is the New Earth, the crowd didn’t know what to think. As it would turn out, the change up was so that the band wouldn’t have to pause in the middle of Zeppelin II to play Auld Lang Syne, release the balloons, and watch the happy couples make out on the dance floor. Good thing too, because once these guys got going, there was no stopping them.

Healthcare Testimony Needed From You!
 
These are dark and treacherous times, and the political climate is a fearsome mess.  However, out of turmoil can come positive growth, with the proper grassroots involvement of those who care.   You can help now, with very little effort, and absolutely no monetary contribution.
 
What you can do, is provide brief testimony as to how our current healthcare structure has effected your life. The only requirement for this testimony is that you be a Colorado resident.
 
Below we have included suggested topics for testimony, guidelines for written testimony, and a link to upcoming events in case you would prefer to become even more involved.   This is your chance to stand up to the pharmaceutical industry and American Medial Association, both of whom do not support the idea of healthcare for all citizens.

Suggested Topics For Testimony:
  • Lost employee coverage- changing jobs or being priced out of coverage.
  • Lack of access to primary, mental, emergency or rural health care.
  • Losing coverage due to rising premium costs, or inability to obtain health care coverage due to pre-existing conditions, etc.
  • Being underinsured - High catastrophic coverage that discourages people from seeking preventive or primary care, and instead                 delaying care until they are very sick.
  • Those who have to decide who in the family will be insured, who will go uninsured.
  • Those who have to choose between purchasing prescription medications or food.
  • Those who forego health care because they can no longer afford increasing copays and deductibles.
  • Those on Medicare (or Medicaid) who cannot find a health care provider, due to decreasing reimbursements.
  • Those who fall under Medicare Prescription Drug Reform, unable to get medications in a timely fashion, or who are charged prohibitive   amounts for their medications.
  • Businesses that can no longer afford health care coverage for employees, as high helath costs render them less competitive.
  • Employees who have experienced pay cuts or effectively, less take-home pay due to the rising cost of health care.
  • Those who have had to declare bankruptcy due to large medical bills.
  • Those who have experienced bad outcomes due to inability to obtain health care in a timely manner.
  • Those who have been diverted from one emergency room to another due to overcrowded emergency facilities.
 

GUIDELINES for ORAL AND WRITTEN TESTIMONY

1. Testimony should briefly describe your experience with the health care system and the consequences of this experience for you. It can include what worked, what didn't work, and what changes you would like to see in the current system to make it more responsive to your health care needs.

2. Testimony should help identify inherent problems in the system and illustrate the need for guaranteed health care for all, thru individual or organizational experiences related to health care access, outcomes, providing services, or financing health care needs or health insurance.

3. Testimony should not name specific individuals.

4. Oral testimony should be about 5 minutes (may be more for an organization, and may depend in part on number and types of testimony submitted). Written testimony should be 1-2 pages long.

5. If someone would like to provide testimony, but does not want to write it himself or herself, a volunteer is available to go to their home to listen to, record, and write the testimony. Also, if someone would like their testimony read, but does not want to do it themselves, a volunteer can be available to do that.

6. All testimony must first be written for review (even if you plan to testify orally) and submitted
no later than April 22, 2006 if you want it included in the May 6, 2006 event. Please fill out this release form with your testimony:
