  • WILLIAM MYLAR...Singer, Songwriter, & Musician
Mylar invented Folk Wave music to describe his unique approach to performing his original music. Folk Wave was unusual in the late 70s and early 80s, because solo Mylar performances were more like rock and roll shows instead of the typical entertainment provided by folk artists of the time.

  • Green Tea
Green Tea was formed in the fall of 2000 when a group of local musicians, artists & friends got together to jam. Since the inception Green Tea has been about songwriting, improvisation, musicianship & sharing that energy with a live audience. During the fall of 2005 the band recorded its first studio CD entitled “The Healing”. That debut disc along with a slew of Gigs in the Northeast has pushed Green Tea out onto the Jamband scene.

THE WILLIAMS BROTHERS were molded on the streets of Oakland, California during the seventies (the only "white boys" on Salisbury Street) listening to their parents vast blues & country vinyl collection, the funk that flowed out of boomboxes (pre hip-hop), and the psychedelic folk rock that blossomed in the East Bay Area during that time.

With swirling thunder and wisps of sunlight, Chris Bramble Band’s music revels in contradiction, weaving disparate strands into an improbable and yet surprisingly natural musical tapestry. The inspiration remains the same, though: a heart rooted in ancient traditions of spiritual yearning and yet embracing this edgy modern world we find ourselves in, dancing all the while.

  • The New Mastersounds, November 16, 2007 in Denver
Why this four-piece funk band has not literally exploded across the music scene in America like so many WMD's is beyond me, and my only hypothesis can be that like those reclusive targets of Presidential invasion, the damn things are just too hard to find. When they decide to grace the US with their presence, The NMS tend to visit only a handful of locations, saving the bulk of their tour for venues across the pond. Luckily, they have taken to Colorado. Colorado, it seems, is also taking to them.

  • Deadwood Revival
Deadwood's "magnificent vocal blend anchored by Kim's powerful voice and complemented by the softer yet perfect pitch of Jason" (Washington Bluegrass Association) adds emotional depth to every song they sing together... like "peaches and whiskey". Both talented songwriters, their original tunes have been described as "old-timey with smokin' hooks". Whether a rockin' hoe down or a tasty ballad, their songs are uplifting, sometimes poignant, and often sound like they could have been written a hundred years ago.

  • Lookout for a Band Named Codename!
On the Thursday of Jam on the River weekend in Philadelphia, there was no better way to kick off the festivities then with a raging show by a new band that has the potential to be a household name in about a year or two. Currently, Codename is flying under the radar mostly at local venues until a couple of the band members finish graduate school. According to their manager, Alex Joffe, brother of guitar player Jon, by the summer of 2009 this band should be touring the country with a heavy dose of experience and songs. I am looking forward to that summer.

  • Turbine Rumbles in the Red Fish
Rightmire’s harmonica is almost certainly the band’s most exciting feature. It functions like a mouth-operated synthesizer, electrified, and run through a huge board of pedals. At times it sounds like a DJ scratch kit, at others it sounds like something from outer space. Sometimes it sounds like a regular harmonica. Rightmire’s epic lung capacity allows him to jam out on the mouth harp with incredible longevity. Long after most people would have blacked out and fallen over, Rightmire keeps the notes flowing, rocking around like a man possessed. I felt lightheaded just watching.

From there, UM will be stopping at the Boulder Theater on the 23rd, with back to back gigs in Denver at the Fillmore and Cervantes on the 24th, and a show in Breckenridge on the 25th.

The promise of hearing Zeppelin II was a deal-maker as well, the kind of rock and roll Rose Hill Drive does best. But when the band opened up with Trans Am, an original track off the band’s latest, Moon is the New Earth, the crowd didn’t know what to think. As it would turn out, the change up was so that the band wouldn’t have to pause in the middle of Zeppelin II to play Auld Lang Syne, release the balloons, and watch the happy couples make out on the dance floor. Good thing too, because once these guys got going, there was no stopping them.

  • Harlem Shakes To Release Debut LP 'Technicolor Health'
After extensive touring and a bit of schooling, the band got back together with Chris Zane (Les Savy Fav, The Walkmen, Passion Pit, White Rabbits) to record their first full-length album, Technicolor Health. The result is one of the most quietly ambitious pop albums in ages. Much like Blur fused English pop traditions and contemporary sonics to forge Brit Pop, Harlem Shakes meld the Great American Songbook with unmistakably contemporary textures, creating what one might call "Am Pop." Influences as disparate as the Band, Randy Newman, Carlos Santana and Spank Rock inform the soundscapes, but the vibe is too coherent to be called eclectic.

  • Hot Buttered Rum & The Travelin' McCourys @ Boulder Theater
Hot Buttered Rum, one of the hardest-working and fastest-rising stars in the musical firmament, has become, over the last five years, a group that is infinitely greater than the sum of its parts. Often described as a rock band playing bluegrass instruments, the band melds blues, folks, bluegrass, jazz, and rock, and the members’ varying degrees of classical training lead them to invest heavily in group composition. The widespread appeal of HBR’s music stems not only from the band’s musical versatility and prolific songwriting, but also from the magnetic chemistry the group creates onstage together. It is this chemistry that is propelling the band to ever greater success.

The Ithaca, New York funk/rock machine Revision is bringing their monstrous grooves and high-octane live performances to Colorado, playing four shows in four nights. Starting in the mountains of Breckenridge, making their way to Boulder, Fort Collins and Denver, respectively, the trio melds the smooth vibes of Soulive with the confident songwriting of Wilco in a unique package that is entirely Revision.

Formed in upstate New York between three Ithaca College music grads, Revision showcases their tireless work ethic by playing over 120 shows per year. Taking to the road in their vegetable oil fueled touring van, the trio has shared the stage with such acts as Derek Trucks, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Bernie Worrell and the Cat Empire. Revision’s signature sound is a blend of groovy guitar riffs, rolling rhythms and soulful melodies.

Their latest album, Amplification, was released in April of this year and was produced by Matthew Ellard (Billy Bragg & Wilco, Elliot Smith, The Slip). In addition to being available on CD, the music is also available on environmentally conscious reusable USB drives, cutting down on waste and providing listeners with additional bonus content such as video and artwork. The lead track “Don’t Be Fooled” was featured on the ESPN Sportscenter segment Web Gems earlier this year.

Committed to cultivating a loyal fan base nationwide, Revision is continually expanding their touring schedule. A band that truly loves to play music, the Ithaca trio is a breath of fresh air for today’s music scene.
