  • Railroad Earth
    With nearly 400 shows and tens of thousands of road miles now behind them, Railroad Earth has become a staple on the national touring and festival scene, and built a huge following of loyal fans that document and trade every note they play, and often join them on the road for multiple nights. These fans call themselves “Hobos,” and the band considers them to be the fuel that keeps this engine chugging along. Railroad Earth’s next album is planned for release in Spring 2004. Till then the band will continue to bring their music to the stage from East to West. So keep an ear to the ground and listen for Railroad Earth, because they'll be rolling through your town very soon.

    The debut on the band was on 18th January 2000, when Metharia won the festival "Le Quattro Notti Rock." In June 2003 they are one of the three winners of the "NMC festival,' in Marcerta winning the award for the best live performance.

    Armed with new jungle juice, they are warming up and ready to play. They opened up with a latenight show in Atlanta and continued on to Mountain View Jam Festival in North Carolina. Coast to coast, they'll be working their way to SummerCamp, Wakarusa, and High Sierra Music Festival.

    Jim Dooney plays guitar and does most of the lead vocals. He is great at getting everyone involved in the fun by taking requests or choosing the perfect song for any situation. Amy Anderson plays the stand up bass and sings harmony. Amy is the musical backbone of the band. Her playing punch and solid timing keeps us all together in our all acoustic environment. Robert Griffith plays banjo and sings harmony. Rob drives the band with lightning fast fingers and great improvising skills. Rich Egan plays mandolin and does some vocals. Rich keeps your feet tapping and your fingers snapping with his rhythm chops and is great at playing tasteful solos."

  • Curious Yellow (August 2003)
    After fronting a couple bands in the mid 90s in California and spending the next several years developing his musical and songwriting talents in Japan and Minneapolis, Adam Lancaster landed in Denver in 2000 and founded the band. The band took on many formations and seemingly endless lineup changes for about a year until the perfect complimentary additions of Gregg Rosenthal (drums), Josh Eckhoff (guitar), and Matt Novack (bass, vocals) created a sound and style beyond what Adam could have hoped for. This new talented group immediately began writing songs and reworking old songs to create music and a performance that attracts and engages every listening audience. The personal and musical bond between each member deepened quickly and the dedication from everyone to develop the band to its fullest possibilities is evident.

    Utilizing congas, timbales, tabla, banjo, bongos, Dobro, ghatham, Didgeridoo, electric and acoustic guitars, bass, drum kit and keys, the band offers a plethora of textures, rhythms, ideas and moods. New Monsoon absorbs elements of sound indigenous to world culture and incorporates them into a variety of colorful and original rhythmic compositions.

    "One Way Rider has taken Nashville by storm! It was an honor to have them perform on the Interstate Radio Network a network of over twenty stations that broadcast from Music City and airs nationwide and in Canada. Locally in Nashville, the IRN broadcast on WSM 650 AM, the home of the Grand Ole Opry. The response was great! We cant wait to have them come back on the air and play for us again. It was so good to be with folks that live and love the bluegrass way, truly a blessed family. David and Valerie are a great example of what a family can accomplish together."

    When Ripple started out in an Old Tappan, NJ basement during early 1978, none of us thought we would be discussing the possibilities of playing together for 25 years. From the early day’s of playing friends parties (usually when the Parent’s were away) to all the great nightclubs and other interesting venues we’ve performed at during the years, we’ve met some amazing people and formed life long friendships that will long out live the Band.

    Summer is really thé time for festivals. In Belgium, each year the festival-season starts with Rock Werchter. Rock Werchter 2004 was four days of 80.000 visitors and 61 concerts on two podiums (main stage and pyramid marquee). As each year, the tickets were sold out very soon. In the very nick of time, I had managed to get a one-day-ticket and joint the last day of the festival. I was a bit disappointed, as I couldn’t see Lenny Kravitz, who was performing the day before. But the Sunday-program was great as well.

He recently told the Daily Camera he is interested in pursuing politics, but is not closing the door to a Salmon reunion. For over 15 years, Leftover Salmon has graced us with their polyethnic cajun slamgrass. These last shows promise lots of special guests and former band members.

The String Cheese Incident Fall 2004 Tour includes a Halloween "WePuliCan" Convention and a Thanksgiving run with Ratdog at Philadelphia's Tweeter Center.

SCI is also confirmed to be in New York City for New Year's Eve.

The String Cheese Incident has mapped out their plans for the remainder of 2004. Fall Tour will begin on October 15 with a three-night run at The Backyard in Austin, Texas. The 16-show tour will wind through parts of the South and Midwest and end on October 31 with a Halloween bash in Madison, Wisconsin.

Halloween is always an over-the-top event for the SCI community. This year The String Cheese Incident will host the inaugural "WePubliCan Convention." The historic gathering will provide a voice for the unpolled American majority, as the event will uncover a fresh view of the potential that lies dormant in the current political landscape. All attendees will be delegates, and are encouraged to dress as their favorite revolutionary character, fiction or not. Expect plenty of upbeat political action, satire, and rock n' roll to help get everyone psyched to hit the voting booths on November 2nd.

The band has also confirmed an isolated run of shows in Philadelphia over Thanksgiving weekend with special guests Ratdog.

Then, SCI will ring in the New Year in the Big Apple. The band will perform December 28 and 29 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden and December 31 at Radio City Music Hall. This is SCI's first New Year's on the East Coast.

Jam Cruise 3 will set sail from Jacksonville, Florida on January 6, 2005. Singer Songwriter Ben Arnold teaches an informal, engaging, communication-based music class at a progressive middle school in Philadelphia and cites his inspiration for his upbeat and rootsy release, Calico.

When WXPN Radio contacted Ben to participate in the launch of the Philadelphia branch of Musicians on Call, a unique outreach program that helps patients with the healing process through live, bedside performances by local musicians, Ben immediately recognized it as an opportunity to share some of his inspiration and to give back to Philadelphia's youths. "I am a believer in the healing qualities of music and art. I've performed in drug and alcohol rehabs, prisons and at the bedside of my own dying father and I know first hand that anything besides just lying there and thinking about one's own illness can make someone feel better for that one moment, at least."

Theresa Andersson Performed Wembley Stadium in London as part of "The Miller Strat Pack" - a concert celebrating 50 years of the Fender Stratocaster.

Theresa Andersson has garnered a reputation as one of the finest musicians in her hometown of New Orleans. Since the release of her album, word about Theresa has been crossing state, and country, borders.

Theresa recently returned from England where, on September 24th, she performed in London's Wembley Stadium as part of the prestigious Fender Stratocaster 50th Anniversary Celebration. Theresa and her bandmate, bassist Annie Clements performed a few original songs backed by the house band, which included members of backing bands for Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, The Who, and others.  Theresa also sat in for all star jams with David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Albert Lee, Paul Rogers (Bad Company), Pino Palantino (Eric Clapton, The Who), and other musical legends.  Theresa was thrilled to be a part of such a gathering of the greatest. "To be 5 feet away from David Gilmour as he played his trademark guitar octave bends was an amazing opportunity." A DVD featuring the event will be released sometime in 2005. Stay tuned...

Now back in the states, look for Theresa on tour and performing at New Orleans' Voodoo Music Experience. Theresa also contributes music and performance cameos in several upcoming film releases, including the A&E original movie The Brooke Ellison Story (produced by Christopher Reeve), and major motion picture A Love Song for Bobby Long (starring John Travolta and Scarlet Johansson).

The always prolific Keller Williams is never not recording, but preparations for his next studio album have officially begun. For this release, which is sure to carry a one word title, Keller is reaching out to his musical heroes. The goal: collaborations with some very special guests, all to be recording in THEIR home towns. More details will follow this winter as the recording sessions begin.

  

The String Cheese Incident

The String Cheese Incident will spend the month of December in the studio with producer Malcom Burns (Bob Dylan, Chris Whitley, Emmylou Harris, Daniel Lanois). Malcom and the band will record SCI's fifth studio album in a private studio in the hills of their hometown, Boulder, Colorado.

Reid Genauer, Assembly of Dust's lead vocalist and primary songwriter, has been dubbed by critics as "one of the most vital voices, singers, storytellers and songwriters in today's live music scene."

Their new album, The Honest Hour, was released on September 14 on Hybrid Recordings. The disc's nine original songs are a mix of new Assembly of Dust songs co-written with keyboardist Nate Wilson, and re-imagined versions of songs Genauer wrote with his former band, Strangefolk. Culled from a show in Troy, NY in early 2004, the band's spirited sophomore disc boasts both the open-sky breeziness and energy of a live show, but also the pristine production of a studio album. AOD's distinctive "hick funk" style sets up the album's best songs as "instant classics," while Reid's genuine songwriting and storytelling maintains all of the edgy and fresh appeal of today's most popular singer/songwriters.

The String Cheese Incident, keyboardist / pianist Kyle Hollingsworth is wholly committed to the exploration of music; over the seven years on tour with SCI he has become quite a pro at sneaking into the practice spaces at local universities-spaces he calls "nerd wings"---where he'll practice for a few hours before or after the band's shows.

It's part of a learning process, an exploration of music that started some 25 years ago and continues with the release of Never Odd Or Even, Kyle's debut solo release.

Featuring guest appearances by sacred steel marvel Robert Randolph ("The Bridge"), and hip saxman Joshua Redman ("Bam!" and "The Crusade"), and with backing by a virtual all-star collective of Boulder, Colorado, musicians (some of whom he's played with for nearly a decade), Never Odd Or Even is the solo disc Hollingsworth has wanted to make since he was a kid.

The project is intended to scratch a musical itch. Kyle has been looking for an opportunity to delve into some of the music he fell in love with during his early twenties: funk-oriented jazz, acid jazz. But while Never Odd Or Even is definitely that, it also veers into gospel (the slide guitar infused "The Bridge") and techno tracks that boast wild time signatures and at times bear Latin and African influences.
