New York City based band Licorice will unveiled their first EP A Million Grains of Sand with a release party at NYC’s Knitting Factory on Wednesday, April 23rd. Green Tea was formed in the fall of 2000 when a group of local musicians, artists & friends got together to jam. Since the inception Green Tea has been about songwriting, improvisation, musicianship & sharing that energy with a live audience. Tom Constanten is an American keyboardist, best known for playing with the Grateful Dead from 1968-1970. Tom has been performing in different forms and genres since the late 1950’s, appearing at such popular venues as The Fillmore Auditorium, Playboy After Dark, and the original Woodstock Festival. He was Professor of Music at SUNY Buffalo and the San Francisco Art Institute (1974-1984). He performed as Artist-in-Residence at Harvard University, and consulted for the Smithsonian Institution.

The band came about in the Autumn of 1994 when Ken Younger, Bill DeSmit and Dan Albers got together for a friendly jam session. After a 2 hour jam of the Grateful Dead songs "The Other One-Dark Star", a decision was made to form a group. Their one-night only stop in Denver, camping out of a “crashed-green” tour-bus from 1954, introduced me and my friends to their brand of Heavy Gypsy Folk ‘n’ Roll for the first time. Leftover Salmon, since 1989, started their four night run at the Fox in Boulder. Word is from Vince Herman this may be the end of road. He recently told the Daily Camera he is interested in pursuing politics, but is not closing the door to a Salmon reunion.
